Good afternoon A&T Family! If you are receiving this email, it is because you expressed interest (either in Facebook or in person) in joining our Apologetics & Theology small group! Well, it is finally time to kick off the fifth phase of our group with a highly requested, highly anticipated series on... (drum roll please) ----- Islam. We live in turbulent times where the collision of Christian and Muslim beliefs can create social, political and (often) even emotional tension for believers. When I began studying and practicing Christian apologetics, Islam was among the first religious systems that I interacted with. Unlike nearly all other religions, its followers often challenge (and even attack) Christian beliefs without coercion. Having had Muslim roommates in college, this meant frequent battles over whether the Bible has been corrupted, whether Jesus was actually crucified and whether Muhammad is a true prophet. But... for all of our disagreements, I was also excited to learn of our agreements. I will never forget the shock I felt when I learned that Muslims consider Jesus to be a true Messiah, born of the Virgin Mary, who will return at the end of the age to defeat the False Messiah (i.e Antichrist). What do Christians and Muslims agree on? What do we disagree on? How should Christians interact with Muslims in daily life/conversation? What would you say or do if a Muslim stopped you on the street and pointed out "errors" in your Bible? Would you know how to respond? (1 Pet 3:15) How would you present the gospel to a Muslim friend or coworker given their their fear of losing their family and even their life for converting? As usual, we'll have the answers to these questions (and more) when we meet! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Food: The menu for the afternoon will be: Tallow Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans If anyone has a specific allergy or dietary restriction, feel free to text or email me directly and I will try to accommodate. Both non-adult and adult beverages are available. As always, if you partake then please do so responsibly, as is fitting for followers of Christ :) Childcare ~~~~~~~~~ Kids are welcome! There is no minimum age to participate in the discussion, but we sometimes discuss things that require a relative level of maturity. We ask that you use your own parental discernment as to whether your child is mature enough for any graphic biblical stories/discussions. For non-participating children, entertainment options are available upstairs. Should the weather permit, there is also a yard w/ a trampoline and a few yard games. We can't wait to see you all again! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Address: 8501 Bingham Dr. McKinney, TX 75071 Time: Food Served @2:00pm.
